On the northern border of NE; organized Mar 20, 1891 from Holt County. Name Origin: For James E. Boyd (1834-1906), NE governor (1891; 1892-93).

On eastern border of KY; organized Feb 15, 1860 from Carter, Lawrence, and Greenup counties. Name Origin: For Linn Boyd (1800-59), KY legislator, U.S. representative (1835-37; 1839-55), and Speaker of the House (1851-55).

    SIECUS has followed a case this year in Boyd County, Kentucky, where after a long court battle, the GSA is meeting while negotiations continue.
    One early study evaluated the use of 36 individual mechanical sewage treatment systems in Boyd County, Kentucky (Waldorf, 1977).
