Boyington, (Gregory) “Pappy” (1912–88) marine aviator; born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He led the famous Black Sheep Squadron, which consisted of pilots dismissed from other squadrons for disciplinary and other problems, in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
