Bragg, Mabel Caroline (Watty Piper, pen name) (1870–1945) writer, educator; born in Milford, Mass. She taught at the Rhode Island State Normal School (1889–1909), worked in publishing, and embarked on a career in education in Newton, Mass., (1916–30) and Boston University (1930–40). She is also known for her children's books, notably The Little Engine That Could (1945).
