braze welding [′brāz ‚wel·diŋ] (metallurgy) A method of welding in which coalescence is produced by heating above 800°F (427°C) and by using a nonferrous filler metal having a melting point below that of the base metals; in distinction to brazing, capillary attraction does not distribute the filler metal in the joint.
