Bredahl, Christian Hviid
Born Oct. 3, 1784, in Daurupsgård, Sorø; died there Jan. 16, 1860. Danish writer. Bredahl began his literary career in 1819. In the collection of plays Dramatic Scenes (parts 1-6, 1819-33), he condemns vanity and conceit. Bredahl’s criticism is combined with elements of mysticism and individualism. His play The Pilgrimage of Sultan Mahmud (1834; published in 1847) is constructed on a folklore theme. Bredahl is also the author of the play designed for reading, Knut Svensøn (1849).
