Size: 3,500,000 acres.
Location: Western Wyoming. Accessible by US 26, 89, 189, and 287. Nearby cities/towns include Pinedale and Jackson.
Facilities: 3 ski resorts, 37 campgrounds, dispersed camping, cabins, picnic areas, 11 boating areas, trails (34 trailheads; 2,200 miles).
Activities: Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, rafting, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ORV riding, rock climbing, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice climbing, dog sledding.
Special Features: Comprises a large part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem - the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. Points of interest include Teton and Wind River mountain ranges; a 200-mile segment of Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (see entry in national trails section); Gros Ventre Slide geological area; three nationally designated wilderness areas: Bridger, Gros Ventre, and Teton; Periodic Spring, largest of world's three known cold-water geysers. Forest adjoins Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks (see entries in national parks section).

Route 287 and 189 will take you into the Bridger-Teton National Forest for some of the best natural scenery in the country, located in the western section of Wyoming and in the north central, leave I-90 on Route 14 and travel through the Big Horn National Forest.
