Broadsword
a silent cutting and thrusting weapon. Its blade was straight, long (about 85 cm), and single-edged, becoming double-edged at the end. From the 18th century it was worn in a metal scabbard. The broadsword appeared in the 16th century to replace the ordinary sword. In the Russian Army, cuirassier regiments of the guards cavalry were armed with the broadsword. It was worn on a sword belt. The broadsword was eliminated as armament in the late 19th century. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
