German universal encyclopedia. Name of the 15th and 16th editions of the encyclopedia Conversations-Lexikon, published since 1808 by the Brockhaus firm.

The 15th edition came out in 21 volumes (200,000 articles) between 1928 and 1937 in Leipzig. Many articles in the later volumes, published after the Hitlerite seizure of power, were written under the influence of fascist ideology. The 16th edition, which came out in Wiesbaden (Federal Republic of Germany), consists of 12 principal volumes (1953–58) and two supplementary volumes (1962–63).
