What does it mean when you dream about something broken?

The state of brokenness can be used to symbolize everything from poverty (“broke”) to forcible entry (a “break-in”) to fundamental damage (“broken down”) to emotional abandonment (as in having one’s heart “broken”). Breaking may also have positive connotations, as when one breaks open the seal on a letter or the packaging of a gift or a new purchase. Any one of these connotations might be indicated, and thus brokenness must be interpreted in the larger context of the dream.
