browser-based application
An application that runs within the Web browser. The instructions, typically written in JavaScript, are embedded within the Web page that is downloaded from a Web site. The advantage of browser-based applications is that they can run in a Windows PC, Mac or Linux machine, since, for the most part, all Web browsers render Web pages and execute JavaScript code in the same manner no matter the operating environment. See JavaScript.
