Brush, Charles (Francis) (1849–1929) engineer, inventor; born in Euclid Township, Ohio. In 1879 the city of Cleveland adopted his Brush arc light. It soon went into use worldwide. The arc light made his fortune, and he devoted his late years to theoretical research and philanthropy.
