On the central southern border of OK; organized Nov 16, 1907 from Chickasaw lands. Name Origin: For William Jennings Bryan (1860-1925), U.S. representative from NE (1891-95), U.S. secretary of state (1913-15), and prosecuter in John Scopes' (1900-70) trial for teaching the theory of evolution (1925).

    In southeastern GA, west of Savannah; organized Dec 19, 1793 from Chatham County. Name Origin: For Jonathan Bryan (1708-88), a founder of the Georgia Colony at Savannah, jurist, and GA legislator.
