Bryant, Gridley J. F. (James Fox) (1816–99) architect; born in Boston, Mass. (son of railroad pioneer Gridley Bryant). His Boston practice prefigured the large architectural firm and designed primarily commercial and public buildings; he rebuilt 110 of his 152 buildings destroyed in the 1872 Boston fire.
