Bryntseva, Mariia Aleksandrovna 

Born Dec. 6 (19), 1906, in the village of Otuzy, now the settlement of Shchebetovka, Crimean Oblast. Innovator in agricultural production; brigade leader of the Koktebel’ Viticultural Sovkhoz in the Crimean Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Twice Heroine of Socialist Labor (1949 and 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1957.

From 1944 to 1958, Bryntseva was a field team leader of the Koktebel’ sovkhoz. In 1947 the field team’s grape harvest was 107.8 centners per hectare; in 1948, 114.3; in 1950, 148.9; in 1951, 171.5; and in 1957, 157. For the period from 1965 to 1967 the brigade harvested 140-160 centners of grapes per hectare. Bryntseva served as a deputy to the Fourth to Eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, and she was a delegate to the Twenty-third Congress of the CPSU. She has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and medals. She is the author of the book How We Obtained Large Grape Harvests (1954).
