BtrieveA database manager for NetWare and Windows, originally built and marketed by SoftCraft in 1982 and developed further by Novell for NetWare. It allows for the creation of indexed files using the b-tree organization method. Btrieve functions can be called from within many common programming languages. In 1994, it was sold to Btrieve Technologies, Inc., Austin, TX, which was founded by former Novell employees. A short time later, the company was re-named Pervasive Software Inc. (www.pervasive.com) with its flagship product called Pervasive.SQL, the evolution of Btrieve. See Xtrieve.
