Bubrikh, Dmitrii Vladimirovich
Born July 13 (25), 1890, in St. Petersburg; died Nov. 30, 1949, in Leningrad. Soviet linguist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1946). Graduated from the University of St. Petersburg. Professor at Leningrad University since 1925. Bubrikh began his scholarly activities in Slavic studies. He studied Slavic accentology (The North Kashubian System of Stress, 1924). His research work in the Finno-Ugric languages contributed to the development of the national cultures and the formation of Finno-Ugric literary languages. He also wrote on the problems of the ethnogenesis and history of the Finnish peoples. WORKSZvuki i fonemy erzianskoi rechi.
