In west-central IA, northest of Fort Dodge; established Jan 15, 1851 from Sac and Clay counties. Name Origin: For the Mexican town in Coahuila, site of Gen. Zachary Taylor's (1784-1850; twelfth U.S. president) final victory in the Mexican War (1847); Spanish for 'good view.'
