Bujor, Mihail Georgiu 

Born Nov. 8, 1881, in Iaşi; died June 17, 1964, in Bucharest. Activist in the Rumanian labor movement. Born into the. family of a minor office worker.

From 1906 to 1916, Bujor edited România muncitoare, a working-class newspaper. In his articles he called for expanding the labor movement in Rumania and for supporting the peasant uprising of 1907. He was arrested in the early part of 1917; after his release in the spring of that year, he emigrated to Soviet Russia. He was one of the organizers of a section of the Rumanian Social Democrats and of Rumanian revolutionary battalions. In December 1917, as a representative of the Rumanian revolutionaries in Odessa, he was received by V. I. Lenin. In January 1918 he was named by the Soviet government to the Governing Board for Russo-Rumanian and Bessarabian Affairs. In 1920 he returned to his homeland and in 1921 joined the Communist Party of Rumania. From this time until the early 1940’s he was frequently arrested for his participation in the revolutionary movement. In 1956 he became a deputy to the Great National Assembly of the Rumanian People’s Republic.
