Bukh, Lev Konstantinovich

Born 1847, in Riazan’; died Apr. 2, 1917, in Petrograd. Russian petit-bourgeois economist.

Bukh was active in the Narodnik (Populist) movement in the late 1870’s. In his work Land to the People (1905) he shared the basic principles of the Socialist Revolutionaries’ agrarian program and advocated the socialization of land, in the mistaken belief that this would put an end to land rent. Bukh was the author of works on political economy and finance, including Money (1891), Major Elements of Political Economy, Part I: Labor Intensity and Cost, Value, and Price of Commodities (1896), and State Finances (1906).
