Bumbry, (Melzia Ann) Grace (1937– ) mezzo-soprano; born in St. Louis, Mo. She made an acclaimed debut at the Paris Opera in 1960 and the next year sang Venus at Bayreuth; her Metropolitan Opera debut came in 1965. She went on to a distinguished international career singing both mezzo and soprano roles.
