A synthetic rubber formed by polymerization of acrylonitrile with butadiene; the structure of the polymer is ‒CH2CH=CHCH2CH2CH(CN)‒. Also known as acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber; acrylonitrile rubber; NBR; nitrile-butadiene rubber; NR.

A synthetic rubber which has good resistance to oils and solvents; produced by copolymerizing butadiene and acrylonitrile.
