Burenin, Viktor Petrovich 

Born Mar. 7 (19), 1841, in Moscow; died Aug. 15, 1926, in Leningrad. Russian poet and publicist.

Burenin began his literary work in 1861 with a report in Kolokol. He worked on the staff of the journal Iskra in 1863-65 and exposed liberals, serf owners, and reactionary journalism. In the 1870’s he broke with the progressive publications and worked at the reactionary newspaper Novoe vremia, where he wrote feuilletons and critical articles.
