Burke, Arleigh A. (Albert) (1901– ) naval officer; born in Boulder, Colo. He entered the navy in 1923 and performed with distinction in World War II. He was a strategic plans director (1952–54) and the chief of naval operations (1955–61). He pursued business interests after his retirement.
