Burton, Scott (1939–90) sculptor, furniture designer; born in Greensboro, Ala. He and his mother moved to Washington, D.C., where he attended high school and studied with Leon Berkowitz. He studied painting at Hans Hofmann's school in Provincetown, Mass., and attended Columbia University (B.A. 1962) and New York University (M.A. 1963). He was a free-lance art critic for Art News and participated in performance art during the 1970s. He is best known for his sculptural furniture constructions. How to thank TFD for its existence?
