Buslaev, Aleksandr Nikolaevich
(real name, Aleksandr Nikolaevich Butenko). Born Mar. 29 (Apr. 11), 1894, in Mirgorod. Soviet circus performer and trainer; People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1967). Member of the CPSU since 1943. In 1929, together with I. N. Bugrimova, Buslaev composed the sideshow “Flight on a Sleigh From the Cupola of the Circus.” In 1941 he began performing the act “Circle of Daring,” in which he combined acrobatic riding on motorcycles with lion taming. Then he created the “Lions and Horses” act, which united lions and horses in one cage. He has been awarded three orders, as well as medals. WORKSZapiski ukrotitelia l’vov.
