Butano State Park Location: On the San Mateo coast, off Highway 1, 3 miles northeast of the Gazos Creek Coastal Access Point by way of Gazos Creek Road, and about 4.5 miles southeast of Pescadero by way of the Pescadero and Cloverdale Roads. Facilities: 39 family campsites (21 developed, 18 walk-in sites), environmental campsites, hike/bike campsites, picnic areas, hiking trails, restrooms, visitor center (é), exhibits. Activities: Camping, picnicking, hiking, bicycling, interpretive programs (seasonal). Special Features: Park is located in a redwood-filled canyon in the Santa Cruz Mountains, just three miles from the ocean. Trails meander through coastal scrub and redwood forests, and the higher mountains afford coastal views.
