Byoir, Carl (Robert) (1888–1957) public relations executive; born in Des Moines, Iowa. Among diverse business ventures, including the introduction of Montessori teaching to the U.S.A., he was best known as a public relations specialist. He founded his own public relations agency (1930) that occasionally achieved notoriety: he was charged with Nazi collusion for representing the German Tourist Information Office in the 1930s, and in 1946 he was convicted of violating antitrust laws with another client, A&P. |
