Tokyo, Japan, Feb 15, 2007 - (JCN) - The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) announced their recent discovery that high-order fullerene C82 and metal-containing fullerene (both Nano-Carbons) can efficiently remove singlet oxygen (which causes oxidation). A portion of the site is zoned C82, while the balance of the site is zoned R-6. In the case of a lanthanum atom inside a C82 cage (see illustration), spectroscopic studies suggest that the trapped atom loses three electrons, which migrate to the carbon cage. |
