CANDU reactor [¦kan¦dü rē‚ak·tər]
(nucleonics)
A type of nuclear reactor that uses natural uranium as fuel, hot pressurized heavy water as coolant, and cool unpressurized heavy water as moderator; utilizes pressurized tubes to contain the fuel and circulating coolant.
