(2) (Content Scrambling System) The copy protection system applied to DVDs, which uses a 40-bit key to encrypt the movie. In order to decrypt movies, DVD player and drive manufacturers must license the CSS algorithm for their products from the DVD Copy Control Association (www.dvdcca.org).
