(Roystonea olerácea, formerly Oreodoxa oleráced), a palm (up to 40 m high) with pinnate leaves (up to 8 m long). It grows wild in the Antilles and in Honduras and is cultivated in the tropics. The cabbage palm’s tender and juicy terminal bud is used for food. Some palm species of such generaas Euterpe and Borassus, whose terminal buds are also used for food, are sometimes called cabbage palms.
