In west-central OK, west of Oklahoma City; original county; organized Aug 6, 1901 (prior to statehood). Name Origin: Name applied to a group of tribes of Caddoan linguistic stock, from Caddo Indian kaadi 'life' or 'chiefs.'

Area (sq mi): 1290.31 (land 1278.33; water 11.98). Pop per sq mi: 23.60.
Pop 2005: 30,229. State rank: 32. Pop change: 2000-20005 0.30%; 1990-2000 2.00%. Pop 2000: 30,150 (White 64.10%; Black or African American 2.90%; Hispanic or Latino 6.30%; Asian 0.20%; Other 31.40%). Foreign born: 2.20%. Median age: 36.00.
Income 2000: per capita $13,298; median household $27,347; Pop below poverty level: 21.70%. *Personal per capita income 2000-2003: $17,702-$20,009.
