Calamian Islands
a group of islands in the South China Sea, in the Philippine Islands archipelago; approximately 100 islands with a total area of about 1,800 sq km are included. The Calamians are situated between the islands of Mindoro and Palawan. The largest islands in the group are Busuanga, Culion, and Coron. The islands are hilly and are covered with dense tropical forests; many of them are fringed with coral reefs. The Calamian Islands are the site of rice, corn, and coconut palm plantations. There is fishing, lumber is exported, and there is a deposit of manganese ores. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
