Calder, A. (Alexander) Stirling (1870–1945) sculptor; born in Philadelphia (father of Alexander “Sandy” Calder). He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1886–90), in Paris (1890), and was based in Pittsfield, Mass., and New York City.
