Callaghan, Daniel (Judson) (1890–1942) naval officer; born in San Francisco. He was the naval aide to President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1938–41). As rear admiral, he led a brilliant naval battle against Japanese forces off Guadalcanal. He was killed in the action. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
