camera ready

Printed material that serves as original artwork for commercial printing. Camera-ready material is photographed, and the films are made into plates for the printing presses. Camera ready implies high-resolution text and graphics. Camera-ready publishing has all but given way to digital methods, in which text and images are created in the computer, edited in the computer and remain in digital form at all times. (publication)camera ready - A final edition of a document or graphic (e.g. a newspaper advertisement or a technical paper for a journal) that is of suitable quality for mass reproduction by making printing plates from the negatives by photoengraving.
