On the southeastern coast of TX, east of McAllen; organized Feb 12, 1848 from Nueces County. Name Origin: For Capt. Ewin Cameron (1811-43), a Republic of TX soldier, executed by the Mexicans.

    In north-west central PA, west of Williamsport; organized Mar 29, 1860 from Clinton, Elk, McKean, and Potter counties. Name Origin: For Simon Cameron (1799-1889), U.S. senator from PA (1845-49; 1857-61; 1867-77), U.S. secretary of war (1861-62), and U.S. Minister to Russia (1862).

    The woman, from Cameron County, is said to have been "chronically ill" prior to catching the H1N1 virus.
    She was a US citizen, a resident of Cameron County," which is the southernmost county of Texas and shares a border with Mexico, and had spent three weeks in hospital, he said.
