Campbell, Douglas 

Born Dec. 16, 1859, in Detroit, Mich.; died Feb. 24, 1953, in Palo Alto, Calif. American botanist. Professor at Stanford University (1891–1925).

Campbell wrote basic papers on the comparative morphology, embryology, and phylogeny of higher plants (particularly mosses and pteridophytes) and on phytogeography.
