Cape of Good Hope
a cape in SW South Africa south of Cape Town Cape of Good Hope (also Cape of Storms; in Portuguese, Cabo das Tormentas), a rocky cape in southern Africa at 34° 21’ S lat. and 18° 30’ E long. The cape was first reached in 1488 by the Portuguese navigator B. Diaz, who named it Cape of Storms (Stormy Cape).
