    0.01 sec.
Capponi, Gino, Marchese (jē`nō käp-pō`nē), 1792–1876, Italian politician, historian, and educator. He played an important part in the Risorgimento. His theory of education anticipated the thought of John Dewey. In 1848 he was president of the constitutional government in Tuscany, and he became a senator after the annexation (1860) of Tuscany to the kingdom of Sardinia. Of his historical writings, the history of the Florentine republic (3 vol., 1875) is best known.
