Established: Authorized on October 17, 1968; established on October 27, 1972.
Location: In Flat Rock, NC, 3 miles south of Hendersonville, off US 25.
Facilities: Information station, rest rooms (é), hiking trails, museum/exhibit. Entrance fee required.
Activities: Hiking, house tours and other ranger-led programs.
Special Features: "Connemara" was the farm home of the noted poet-author for the last 22 years of his life (1945-1967). During his residence here, he published more than one-third of his works. The historic site consists of a 22-room house, barns, sheds, rolling pastures, mountainside woods, walking/hiking trails, two small lakes, ponds, flower and vegetable gardens, and an orchard.
