Carnosauria [‚kär·nə′sȯr·ē·ə]
(paleontology)
A group of large, predacious saurischian dinosaurs in the suborder Theropoda having short necks and large heads.

Carnosauria

a superfamily of extinct carnivorous dinosaurs—theropods. The carnosaurs were very large bipedal reptiles. They were the principal terrestrial predators of the Mesozoic: Teratosaurus was the most characteristic of the Trias-sic; Megalosaurus, of the end of the Jurassic and beginning of the Cretaceous; and Tyrannosaurus, of the end of the Cretaceous. The carnosaurs had a high massive skull, powerful daggerlike teeth, a relatively short neck, and small forelimbs, especially in the later forms. There were several families comprising many species and genera. Carnosaur remains are found on all the continents.

But if some carnosaurus comes after me with a gun or knife, I don't want to wonder if my ammo is going to make him mellow enough, fast enough.
