Castaic Lake State Recreation Area

Location: 41 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles; from I-5, exit at Hughes Lake Road.
Facilities: Campsites (including group camping), picnic areas, trails, 3 boat ramps, boat rentals, bait and tackle shop, fishing pier (é), playgrounds, restrooms.
Activities: Camping, boating, jet skiing, water skiing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking.
Special Features: Castaic Lake is a reservoir of the State Water Project. It includes 29 miles of shoreline and two bodies of water. The lower lake is used for non-powered boating and swimming. The larger upper lake is suitable for fishing, power boating, sailing, and water- and jet skiing.
