The Ruperra Castle Preservation Trust has been striving to preserve the 17th-century ruined building, off the A468 south of Machen, while its owners, Barakat Ruperra Limited, want it to form part of a new 18-home development.
Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust chairman John Pitt said: "I am disgusted by the dangerous actions of a group of mindless yobs.
