Cerro Bolívar
iron ore deposits in Venezuela, in the Guiana Highlands, in the interfluve of the Orinoco and Caroni rivers. There is surface bedding. The ore bodies are associated with the itabirite formation, which is represented by ferruginous quartzites. The iron content is 63 percent. The total geological reserves are 1.3 billion tons; in 1970, 15.4 million tons were mined. The ore is sent by railroad to a metallurgical plant in Santo Tomé de Guyana and to ports on the Orinoco River—San Félix and Puerto Ordaz—for export. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
