chaotic behavior [kā′äd·ik bi′hā·vyər]
(mechanics) The behavior of a system whose final state depends so sensitively on the system's precise initial state that the behavior is in effect unpredictable and cannot be distinguished from a random process, even though it is strictly determinate in a mathematical sense. Also known as chaos. Want to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit the webmaster's page for free fun content. |
