Cheraw State Park


Location:4 miles southwest of Cheraw, off US Highway 52.
Facilities:17 campsites, 2 group camps, horsemen's camp, 8 cabins, showers, 2 picnic shelters, hiking trail, bike trails, bridle trails, boat ramp, boat rentals, meeting building, 18-hole golf course, playground.
Activities:Camping, boating (10 hp limit), fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding
Special Features:Originally developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), park protects habitat for the threatened Red Cockaded woodpecker. A number of the buildings built by the CCC are still in use.

The anniversary celebration begins on April 4, at 1 pm with a ceremony on the steps of Cheraw Town Hall that will re-enact the 1934 deed transfer for the land that would become Cheraw State Park.
