Cherokee Landing State Park Location: 10 miles south of the junction of US 62 and US 82, south of Tahlequah. Facilities: 150 campsites (semi-modern and primitive), RV group camp, showers, picnic area, group shelters, boat ramp, fishing dock, beach, ballparks, playground (é). Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, volleyball, interpretive programs. Special Features: In the early 1800s, after a devastating journey from Georgia over the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee Indians came to this area and built a nation. The park lies in the heart of Cherokee Territory, on the north shore of 12,500-acre Lake Tenkiller, surrounded by thick pine forests.
