Chervonoe Lake
(also Chervonoe Poles’e, Kniaz’ozero), a lake overgrown with vegetation in Gomel’ Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Chervonoe Lake has an area of 43.6 sq km and a maximum depth of 4 m. It is fed by mixed sources. The water level varies by 0.8 m and is highest in March and April. The lake freezes over in November and December, and the ice breaks up in the second half of March or in April. Drainage ditches and the Bobrik River drain the lake into the Priapat’ River.
