Every Thursday the Majestic Imperator runs from Vienna to Munich on a slightly indirect route of 11 hours from Vienna's Westbahnhof train station via Melk, Linz, Salzburg, Prien by Chiemsee, Innsbruck, Seefeld, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then Munich-Starnberg.
In the morning, we drove to Munich airport to pick up a friend and then drove down to Prien am Chiemsee, to see a colleague and old acquaintance, the American-born expatriate physician Rigdon Lentz, MD.
I could also visualise the largest lake in Bavaria, the lake Chiemsee with other picturesque lakes Starnberger and Ammersee near Munich and in the little distance the lake Königssee in Berchtesgaden, which is surrounded by the impressive mountains of the Alps.
